by Neil L. (Long Island, NY) Kenmore Elite - Model #795.77543600 is a 3-door, bottom freezer model, and here are some of the main problems. I will never buy from Sears again. I didn't think I needed to buy it because most refrigerators last longer than a year??? i purchased a LG double door refrigerator at Home Depot. My first Kenmore refrigerator lasted nearly 20 years and my parents always bought Kenmores because they were reliable. Purchased Kenmore Elite model 795.74027.610 refrigerator on 6/25/17, and the freezer, refrigerator, icemaker all stopped working today (lights and alarms are on). I had purchased the extended warranty for a couple of hundred of dollars after spending over $2,000.00 for the refrigerator. Scheduled a tech to test it and the day before he arrived, the freezer completely stopped cooling. I, therefore, called a local appliance repair company and paid $1309.56 for a new compressor. It worked great until February 15, 2020 (a whopping 4 months) and the compressor has gone out again! Refrigerator stopped working over a week ago still waiting on Sears to replace compressor that is under warranty. Had a repairman out on Memorial Day and he new it was the compressor. Sears says Kenmore. The equivalent new refrigerator costs $3,300. Called sears and emergency appointment set up for week later! I would have bought the extended warranty for 5 years had I ever worried that a compressor would fail in less than 10 years because the machine had a linear conpressor versus a reciprocating compressor that is standard with GE machines. As evidenced by the Sears My Community website this is a widespread defective product known to Sears and LG. I bought a Kenmore French door on Black Friday 2016 and put in use on Sept/2017 ( because my house was being built during that time). However in less than two years the compressor died on our new expensive Kenmore elite. Called Sears for service, they no longer service my area after my extended service lapsed in 2020. Gave Model and Serial number. Defect Diagnosis Function. I went thru cleaning vents in back, resetting Refrig per instructions. He said that theres a closed loop failure (Freon leaked out) or the compressor has failed and they would need repair at the shop which would take a week. Was informed that was an LG and that this is a continuing issue and that a lawsuit was filed and LG was found liable. I have been on the phone with Sears several times the past few days complaining about my refrigerator not working. Purchased a Kenmore elite model 79572063.110 temperature on front of door we have at 33 inside fridge and freezer not cooling at all. I did pay for extended warranty service knowing these French door refriges have issues. Most have 5 or 10-year warranty, but not my model #795.7249.11. We bought Kenmore 72595 June, 2018 on August 15, 2022 my unit quit working! Compressor is under warranty but I am told that the labor charge is going to be close to $300. The part was backordered. I had to actually take a picture of my inside label of frig with the warranty book next to it! We went on vacation and came back only to have to through out all our food. Her triple door smart Kenmore Elite refrigerator she bought two and a half years ago stopped cooling. I cannot afford that. No longer under warranty. Compressor went out 18 months later. 1000 dollars to have it fix. Sears comes out, looks at it, and looks at me and said it was garbage and to start looking for a new fridge. The agents sound very rehearsed and appear to experts at not solving your problems. We are now dealing with another refrigerator full of spoiled food! We are saving for new appliances, it's like trying to save for an old used car. Cannot reach Sears or the manufacturer. The following Monday we waited for the repair man for most of the day. He said, "It's out of Freon, they all so that" He proceeded to tell my husband that it's and LG product and a piece of crap. Well this lady has learned a valuable lesson. I bought an Kenmore fridge from Sears January 2017 and by July 2019 I need a new fridge. Today, my 'fixed' refrigerator is set at the coldest settings it has avaliable and I have thermometers in each compartment, the top fridge, set at 34 is actually 42, the middle drawer is set at 29 and is actually 35, and the freezer is set at -6 and is actually at 26. I contacted Sears warranty they sent a technician out today 10/2/19 I was told it would cost me $495 to fix the problem. Apparently, it is very common for the system to develop pinholes so it won't retain the refrigerant, which renders the whole thing useless! On Friday 8/10/2018 I came home to an entire fridge and freezer of melted spoiled food. of course lost a fridge full of food. (2) When a defect occurs, the buttons will not operate; but the tones will sound. No wonder Sears went bankrupt. Last compressor just Friday, 8/9/19. Paid $3200. Aug 14, 2012. It just now quit cooling. The water from the ice machine was all over my heard wood floors, overnight the entire freezer went off! I would love to join in the future lawsuit!! It was under warrantee with Sears. I have thrown more food away in the past year, limping this thing along. Add me to the Class action lawsuit. The next day a service tech came and said the motor and the fan needed to be replaced and quoted a price of $425. The food heated up and I have thrown everything out as it could be dangerous to consume. I've never paid as much for a refrigerator as I did for this one and I've never had any issues with any other refrigerator that I have ever owned but this one! I have read so many with the same experience! I also lost about $300 worth of food that was in the freezer and some that was in the refrigerator compartment. The bottom line is that we paid $1300 for a refrigerator six years ago, and have not had full use of it for at least five years. !.411 and. I asked person if he knew difference between Warranty and Recall. Still waiting for parts and unit to be repaired. Sears states we have to use their technician or the manufacturer warranty is null in void. They last about 2 years and are unreliable. $1200.00 was original estimate. LG Center sent two technicians (costly) that misdiagnose after 2nd trip never came back & don't want them back. None available. We also bought a Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator from Sears on Oct 11, 2011 on July 4th 2019 the compressor went out and was verified by our personal technician. Please Help! I found someone to come out for $65 and he said the control board was faulty which was the cause of the water and ice dispenser not working and then it lead to the wiring to the compressor. I think they knew exactly what was going on and I am ready to fight for what I think is right. LG model LFX29927ST. I want a new one as well. Now, unplug the refrigerator's plug from the wall outlet. L G will not recall. Sears has given me the runaround on a warranty of a television I purchased after their technician said it should be replace vs ordering a part which never came. After 4 years the compressor gone bad. I bought a Kenmore elite model number 253.44743110 from sears. Had a repair man out and he said it is the compressor and that many people are having a problem with the LG compressor used in the Sear Kenmore Elite refrigerators. Yet its been a week and our refrigerator still does not work. They ordered a compressor which wasnt the correct one and tried to reorder another after selling me the warranty plan. He did see notes regarding the seriousness of my situation. The technician came and this time, he was over 2 hours late, no call or text. Bought my Kenmore Elite May 2019. Model #795.74013.410, RE; KENMORE ELITE PURCHESED 2011.. MODEL 7957253, My Kenmore Elite model 745 74022 410 has continual. Shop Kenmore. At these prices augh. I had to keep calling Sears to confirm the appointment because this indeed was an emergency being with our fairly new refrigerator. GREEDY SAPS! I would be out $1100 for repair. I will not ever purchase another Kenmore product. No help has been offered to reimburse us for the cooler or the ice. Within 3 years the compressor went bad. The compressor is the only part still under warranty. I bought a Kenmore Elite bottom freezer around Nov/Dec 2015. After 4 phone calls to Kenmore who repeatedly transferred call without checking for recall, on the 4th call I was told there is a recall. There are plenty of other folks who could use to be in on it from what I have read. I was not made aware of the recall and was told by the Salesperson when I bought it that it did not have a faulty Compressor. The technician said that the I needed a new condenser which would be no charge because that's the only thing covered under the "warranty" but the other parts and labor I would be responsible for unless I purchased an additional warranty that would cover all the parts for $600 a year but it would cut the $858.23 in half. It was replaced on 10/19/2021 at a cost of $1,055. This was all right before Thanksgiving. This is how we found out that the fridge quit working. Bought brand new $3200 Kenmore Elite fridge in 2017 (on 3rd compressor) $750-$1000 for each of the 3 repairs (Using the same faulty compressor all 3 times!) I am trying to contact the few available Sears Repair Store near my home and they ask for $ 129 Diagnostic Fee. Somebody should be held accountable as many people have said. 2,800 dollars. I see others have had the same problemwhy isn't there a recall? Thats ridiculous to me. Didnt realize how many people have had the same problem with kenmore brand. They told us it was just the ventsto wait 48 hours. I purchased a LG, French door-in-door, bottom freezer Refrigerator; model # LFXS 24663S, in June of 2015. The cost was going to be over One Thousand Dollars, I asked him how can all those parts failed at the same time and was there any warranty he said the warranty on those parts ran out I. June of 2021. Just a month ago it stopped working. I really believe this is unacceptable and something should be done. Seemed he had no idea what he was saying or doing. Not to mention the first time it stopped working they told us it would be several months before they can even have someone look at it so we had to go buy a new refrigerator for the kitchen. We purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator model #795.731 in March 2018 and on 1/02/22 it quit cooling. I have argued until I'm blue in the face with a thousand Representatives through Sears LG and Sears Kenmore Department which are all pretty much tied together and they are making it where you have to replace your fridge within 3 years every three years because they are trying to drum up business bye making us customers that stuck with them through the possible closures and shutting down of all locations we get treated like this and then to kick me while I'm down they offer me $160 in points on my Shop Your Way account to put towards a mini fridge to get me by until the repairs can be done 2 weeks later but there are no fridges available whatsoever on Sears website for my town that will make it to the store or to my house before my fridge will be repaired so to add insult to injury they give me $160 I can't use which infuriates me even more and being told when I bought the items that they would last me 15 plus years but yet they already knew the refrigerator wood fell within the first 3 years but proceeded to tell me it would last me 15 plus years and nobody can step up to the plate and make this right I asked for a replacement fridge not a repair 2 weeks later because of the fact that there will be a smell that develops from my fridge sitting not being used for over 2 weeks but yet the charges that I would have to pay if it wasn't covered under warranty would be $950 plus they gave me $300 towards food loss and that hundred and sixty dollars but to just give me a new fridge of the same model which is now reduced in price by half due to all it's bad reviews it's only $1,200 now but do the math they will spend $100 more not to give me a new fridge that's BS and I hope that the right person sees this post and brings all this to light on a national level because Sears needs to be shut down and penalized 4 their wrongdoing and lying and misleading and forcefully making customers K obscene amount of money for repairs my repair states that the compressor is $424.91 but if I were to order it on the site myself and get it shipped to me it's only $350 why can anybody explain because of the fact that they are cheating every system that they possibly can so those of you who had to pay for their repairs I would go back and look how much they charged you and how much the parts actually are because there's about $100 in difference between all of their costs from the repair guy "not including labor" versus their own website!!! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. First one we thought was odd but 2 in 9 years. I've heard there are just a couple manufacturing facilities that make the parts for almost all the appliance companies, so it was confusing to me to know for sure when we bought our new house, with all LG appliances, whether we should walk away from the sale or go with it. They know they are faulty and should be replaced or repaired for free, I have a kenmore elite. Im all for legal action against them both. I AM LIVID!! I read in the other comments that these LG's were made in Korea and they were meant to run on butane not Freon is that true? Our LG is 2 years old. In doing research, this compressor is known by both Sears & LG to be faulty and there have been previous class action lawsuits related to the compressor. Only the compressor was covered. Compressor has failed in August of 2022. Why is my model not included in the Recall? Mind you he did nothing and Sears or whoever took my credit card over seas in order to even get him to come out, charged me $300. Had a repair 2 years later and now, August 2021 the compressor is done. 3 months without a fridge! I'm back to square one - stuck with a lemon that still doesn't work, and it will be 2 weeks for anyone to come back to diagnose properly.
